Career Management During the Holidays

A belated Happy Thanksgiving if you are reading from the US. And the beginning of a Holiday season. I’ve managed to get our lights up, so feeling pretty good about that.

I thought I would point you to some articles I published back during the 2005 Holiday season and they are worth revisiting if job / career related issues are on your mind today.

I have a question about changing careers. I have been working in a blue collar field for nearly 16 years. In April of 2007 I completed an MBA/ACC and have been trying ever since to change careers. I am finding in these tough economic times that changing careers is nearly impossible as the competition is very steep. I am willing to start at the bottom and work my way up; however, it seems that most companies are looking for experience which I do not have. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Kelly, I think you should continue working with the same organization for few more months
and wait for the opportunity of your interest rather than going for some other field than your interest.
