On Spam Comments and Trackbacks

Irritation. Sadness that people waste their time posting spam comments. Anger that I have to spend my valuable time dealing with them.

First, I trust that if you have ever seen a trackback or comment on this blog that is inappropriate, you will understand that it belongs in the above category and that I just hadn't dealt with it yet.

Second, this recent experiment with 100% open comments isn't working. So, from now on, comments are open, but will remain unpublished until I review them. That way, spam comments will not get through and legitimate comments will only be delayed by the time it takes for me to see the email and approve the comment.

So, I continue to welcome legitimate comments and feedback on any article or post on this blog.

Some time ago, I turned the comments feature off on this blog because I just didn't want to deal with the hundreds of spam comments I was receiving every week.

Well, problem solved. Sort of. A number of readers have privately emailed to either ask for the comments to be turned back on, or to comment privately on specific posts.

The conversation at Bold Career has suffered and I want it back. So, as of now, comments are back on for most posts. I would like to hear from you.

A rant

Who are you???? You people who spam my inbox. Who litter my blog with links ranging from the annoying to downright scary...all I presume so that you can make a little bit of money.

I have just spent the last 2 hours disabling the comment feature on this blog. I wish I didn't have to, but that's the way it is.

Sad. You are wasting my time, but also your time and your life. Please do something worthwhile with your career. Please.
